HL7 is the Standards Development Organization for the development of Health Care related standards.

KCI participates in various workgroups and attends International Work Group Meetings.

Mr. Knapp participates as:
Chair of the Unique Device Identifiers (UDI) Task Force;
Co-chair for the (ITS) Implementable Technology Specifications Work Group ( Data types, serialization, Transports ) since 2003;
Co-chair for the (FM) Financial Management Work Group ( eClaims, Accounts, Billing ) since 2012;
Co-chair for the Foundations Technology Steering Division since 2013;
Member of the Technical Steering Committee sinc e 2013;
Appointee to the US Realm Task Force since 2013;
Appointee to the FHIR Management Group, (Fast Health Interoperable Resources), since 2013.

Canada Health Infoway brings together, under the banner of 'The Standards Collaborative', several of the key organizations involved in Health Care Standards:

HL7 Canada - the Canadian Affiliate of HL7
ISO - in particular TC215 (Health)
IHTSIDO - the SDO responsible for SNOMED
IHE - Integrating the Health Enterprise

The Enterprise Architecture Centre of Excellence provides training, support services, materials and peer-based accreditation for Einterprise Architects.

Mr. Knapp is an EACOE Certified Enterprise Architect

Mr. Knapp was a member of the NeCST standards development project throughout the project as a member of the Technical Steering Committee and the Technical Architecture Group. He was also co-chair of the Oral Health SIG.

Mr. Knapp has been the SCWG 8 (Privacy and Security) representative to the Standards Collaborative Technical Steering Committee since 2008. He is also a member of the HL7 Canada Council, and a voting member on behalf of HL7 Canada on HL7 International ballots.
